Deaf Awareness Week Tip 6
Use Simple Body Language and Visual Cues!
Many deaf and hard-of-hearing people are visual. Gesturing and using clear facial expressions will help to convey what you are trying to say.
Miming is also okay if it helps to get a certain point across, but do not try to mime every single word. This can come across as disrespectful and distracting. It is important to remember that it is not the same as sign language.
